Hello Terry,
We are excited to announce that the Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee is preparing for many upcoming events, several of which will include opportunities for you to see the #vegassuperball! As a TEAM LV Volunteer we wanted to give you an inside look at what makes our #vegassuperball so special.
The #vegassuperball has been created exclusively for Las Vegas, by Las Vegas! Standing at nearly 14 feet high, this oversized football is generating excitment within the Las Vegas community and for our visitors, as we celebrate the year ahead leading up to Super Bowl LVIII. The #vegassuperball has a full calendar of appearances, and its presence is an opportunity to spread fun and joy to all those that interact with it.
As a TEAM LV Volunteer, you will receive emails in advance regarding where our #vegassuperball will pop up next, so if you’re in the area we welcome you to stop by, say hello, take a photo, and show your TEAM LV support!
#vegassuperball FUN FACTS
The Super Ball is 13 feet long x 8 feet in diameter. Once it’s on the base, the total height is 9 feet.
Its Inner is made from carved blocks of bead board foam
Once the foam ball was carved, it was then hard coated by spraying on a polyurethane shell
The ball itself weighs close to 1,200 pounds, and the base stand is an additional 400 pounds
Once the had coat was dry, the texture of the pigskin was painted by hand
It took 30 crew members to fabricate the ball, between design/drawings, router operators, sculptors, scenic painters, metals workers, and the ‘hard coating’ crew
